[2.8/5.0] Sang-gye 'Jay Hair' Restroom in Korea

I visited Jay Hair in Sanggye. It's located on the second floor of a run-down building. When you open the door, you're greeted with a space that contrasts with the atmosphere of the building. It's cozy and warm, and especially when getting a haircut, it's a heavenly experience.

Above all, their hairdressing skills are excellent. The couple who run the salon are both talented. Despite living far away, I make time to go because I'm always satisfied. It may be difficult to make a reservation, but I plan to continue going in the future.

I'm getting a perm after a long time. I took off my coat and put on a gown, so let's go to the restroom.

What about the Sanggye Jay Hair restroom?

INFO

Located outside the establishment

Toilet paper available | Locked (password required) | Unisex

Atmosphere

It has a '1997 Classic Edition' interior. In 1997, there was the IMF crisis. Many companies went bankrupt, and the livelihoods of those who received salaries there became precarious. This restroom embodies the philosophy of commemorating the hardships and sorrows of that time. It's a high-level work.

Accessibility

When you exit the salon, it's on the same floor. It's immediately visible, and a password is required to enter. You can ask at the counter. It's a high-security system to maintain the condition of the artwork. It's a point where you can feel the professionalism.

Size

A private zone for only one person. It's an all-in-one place where you can do everything from urination and defecation to handwashing and floor cleaning.

Cleanliness

There's no smell compared to what you might expect. It's better than the smell throughout the building. The ventilation is always on, and it seems to be well-maintained. The floor is also dry.

Convenience

There's an unused urinal, a hand towel case without towels, and an empty soap case. If you feel somewhat disappointed, it's because you haven't deeply considered the intention behind them. If you understand the concept of the 1997 Classic Edition, you'll realize that those are not convenience facilities but interior design elements. There's no need to feel disappointed.
